Medical Supervision
No retreat without
a doctor present.
Every Chakana Ancestral retreat is supervised by a licensed physician who reviews your medical history before acceptance, validates your medication, and remains present during ceremonies. It's not an extra: it's the condition for working with these medicines.

Dr. Alejandro Serrano
Responsible Doctor · Integrative Medicine
Licensed in Spain, 18 years of experience in emergency and internal medicine, trained in accompaniment with ancestral medicines.
What exactly does he do?
Four Clear Responsibilities
Prior Medical Screening
Detailed clinical questionnaire and individual interview before accepting any place. We review cardiovascular, hepatic, neurological, and psychiatric history.
Medication Review
Analysis of interactions with MAOIs, SSRIs, lithium, antihypertensives, and other drugs. If something is not safe, we tell you clearly and wait.
Presence at Ceremony
Monitoring of vital signs before and after each ceremony, and medical accompaniment present throughout the night.
Emergency Protocols
Full first aid kit, oxygen, written referral plan, and a reference hospital less than 20 minutes from the retreat.

Honesty first
When we say
no.
We decline applications every month. If the clinical risk is high, a retreat is not possible now — and we will explain why, offering alternatives and, if appropriate, a referral.
- Uncontrolled heart disease or severe hypertension
- History of psychosis, schizophrenia, or bipolar I disorder
- Current treatment with MAOIs or certain antidepressants without a supervised withdrawal schedule
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Advanced liver or kidney disease
- Uncontrolled epilepsy
