His Story
César comes from a medicine lineage in southern Colombia. He trained for years alongside taitas from Putumayo and today leads the ceremonies at Chakana Ancestral: preparing the medicine, opening the space, singing, and setting the rhythms of the night.
His way of working is understated: few words, deep singing, and constant attention to each person in the maloca. He knows the exact moment to approach someone and the exact moment to leave them alone with their process.

What those who have been here say
His singing held me when I thought I couldn't take any more. He said nothing, sat beside me, and kept singing.
