What it is
Kambó is the secretion of the Amazonian green tree frog, Phyllomedusa bicolor. Traditionally, it is used to cleanse the body, elevate energy, and sharpen the senses before hunting. In our program, it is offered in short, carefully dosed sessions.
The frog is not harmed: it is gently stimulated at dawn to release its secretion onto a wooden frame, and then returned to the exact spot where it was found.
Small points are applied to the skin — typically on the arm or leg — after a superficial blister is made with the ember of a vine. The body's response is intense but brief: heat, pressure, purge.
After the session, a state of calm, clarity, and lightness arrives, which can last for days. It is a physical medicine, not psychoactive.

History
Each medicine carries centuries — sometimes millennia — of living knowledge. Telling its story well is part of showing respect.
Origin
The Matsés legend tells that a sick pajé (shaman) received a vision of the green frog in his dreams. Upon waking, he followed the frog's sound, applied its secretion, and healed his people. Since then, Kambó has been medicine and a guide.
Traditional Amazon
Matsés, Katukina, Yawanawá, and other peoples use Kambó to cleanse 'panema' —bad luck, heaviness— before entering the jungle to hunt. After the application, they say, the body becomes invisible to the animal.
1980–2000
Researchers identify unique peptides in the secretion —dermorphin, deltorphin, phylloxin— with activity on the immune system, pain, and inflammation. None of this explains the experience, but it validates that something is happening.
Today
Our facilitator is trained directly in the Matsés tradition, with parallel training in first aid and clinical screening. Neither spiritual tourism nor mass sessions.
The Journey of the Medicine
Every step is documented, lineage-supported, and verified. We do not work with medicine that we cannot trace back to its origin.

Palm Frame
The secretion is collected with delicate wooden sticks and left to dry. The frog is released back into the same tree. Its well-being is part of the lineage.

Kambó travels dry, is kept cold, and each batch is documented. Our facilitator is trained directly in the Matsés tradition and in first aid.
